Fear is a main factor in mood. In fact, fear is the main catalyst to everything we do. It may not seem true at first, but think about why you eat. Fear of starving or fear of feeling the stomach pains. Why do we go to work? Fear of not paying bills, losing our homes, not eating, etc. Why do we go to McDonald's instead of Pizza Hut? Fear of not being satisfied, or fear of getting too fat, or fear of heartburn, etc. Why do we spank our children? Fear of them growing up and landing in prison, or getting hit by a car, or some other fear, so we teach them to do it right. Why do we go to church? Fear of going to Hell, fear of not being sociable, fear of our parents frowning on us, etc, etc, etc.
Depression is a biggie when it comes to overweight individuals. Any Doctor can attest to this. When a person is depressed they feel sorry for themselves, and a hatred is set up inside. They eat to do their body harm and it becomes this punishment for something they do not remember. An overactive person is associated with anxiety. A fancy word for fear of something or another. This person never eats, or burns off the calories fast and is usually skinny. Heart attacks happen to the fat and skinny people of the world if it is their mood that got them there in the first place. Mood is the number one killer of humans.
To stop smoking, overeating, overworking, and an enormous assortment of other vices, a person must first conquer the fear in them, or at least keep it in control. Some say the devil made me do it, others pray to God for help, others go to Doctor's so they feel safer with the decisions made. All have the one thing in common, they are trying to overcome the fear involved. Many a fat person has lost weight because the fear of growing old without a partner is larger than whatever fear caused them to overeat in the first place. Many other large people go to exercise as their main vice because they are afraid of dying young. Fears can be manipulated to an advantage in some cases. In the Bible, it is said that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. Wisdom is a good thing. Do not spend your life worrying about fear, there will be plenty of it, so enjoy it the best you can. Fear will always be a main part of mankind. It is not you alone that has problems, so get over yourself, and do something about it.
If all you need is that full feeling in your stomach, then stuff yourself with salad, but no salad dressing. If you need flavor and cannot stomach bland fare, then try eating Mexican and Chinese food exclusively. But stick to the best you understand, in the way of fat content, and sweet substances, and calorie count. There is always a way to get around the physical aspects of dieting, it is the mental aspects that hold the fat human into a self loathing mental state that claims things like "Everyone hates me." When the truth is that they hate themselves.
Fat is a good insulator from the cold, and a valuable asset to bears in the winter. So become a bear and learn to cross county ski. It is not a strenuous sport, but it will get needed exercise and get you away from the table. Don't be afraid of looking like a fool, if you fall down the snow will cushion the landing. Getting back up will be a lesson in humility, and humility is something we all need to learn. It is this thinking about ourselves as being the important one that gets humans in trouble all the time, yet governments and large organizations alike teach competition as the main goal in life. Patting yourself on the back because you are the winner in life may seem alright, but it leads to stabbing yourself in the back when you are the loser of life's competitions. Are you the prettiest, strongest, smartest, cutest, friendliest, richest, best built, or ????? You get the idea.
Social dysfunction is worldwide and can be found in small tribes in jungles as well as the largest cities. It is part of the competition of large corporations and tiny businesses. Wages can be based on your abilities to fit in with the proper group. This leaves the obese person feeling worse than a little child could imagine. While growing up and growing out, an overweight child learns more every day about the separation between them and what is considered the top competitors in the field or social acceptance. By the time this person becomes an adult their parents can be held in contempt, but this too is not socially acceptable, so the contempt moves inward where the responsibility genes live. The unconscious mind takes over where a human has a hard time deciphering the difference between right and wrong and who is really to blame. The blame many times goes out to society itself and the teachings of self control. This can lead to the competitor living in the large body wanting to show the world that a fat person is a good thing. You have seen these individuals on television, and they are mostly arguing their point against the powers that be. For instance, I have seen large people complain that it is not fair that they have to pay for two seats on an airplane, or get limited at an all you can eat buffet, or do not have fashionable clothes to wear without paying the premium to have them hand crafted.
The first thing an overweight person needs to ask themselves is why do they want to lose weight. The answer may not be the real truth, but it may indicate one of the fears that need to be kept in control while trying a diet of any sort. If the diet isn't going well, ask again an try to come up with another answer, there is a good chance that the truth could be a list of reasons. Prioritize the list and work on them at all times. Eventually your life will get better even if you never lose a pound, and that is the most important thing in this whole page.
